About Us

The French University in Armenia (UFAR) was created in 2000 following a cooperation agreement between the French and Armenian governments signed in 1995. It is the result of collaboration between the Ministries of Education and Science and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the French Embassy in Armenia.

UFAR became an interstate university in 2003 with the support of His Excellency Henry Cuny, French Ambassador to Armenia from 2002 to 2006. It seeks to become a major player in higher education in the Caucasus, training responsible leaders who are open to the world.

Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 is its long-standing academic partner, and has played a key role in its development for over 20 years.

In 2018, UFAR established academic partnerships with Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse 3, particularly in the field of Artificial Intelligence.

Established in 2007 (1999 for nursery school), the French School Anatole France is the only school in Armenia approved by the French Ministry of Education and recognized by an intergovernmental agreement signed in 2011 between France and Armenia.

Educational program :

The school offers French-language education in line with the French Ministry of Education curriculum, from nursery to high school, with internationally recognized French diplomas:

    - Nursery school (maternelle) from 2 to 5 years old,

    - Elementary school (élémentaire) from 6 to 10 years old,

    - Middle school (collège) from 11 to 14 years old, validated by the Middle school diploma (brevet des collèges),

    - High school (lycée) from 15 to 17 years old, validated by the High school diploma (baccalauréat).

The school provides an inclusive learning environment, bringing together students of different nationalities, supervised by teachers trained in France and Armenia.

AEFE partner :

The French School Anatole France is a part of the French education network abroad, a unique system in the world consisting of 566 schools in 138 countries. These schools benefit from the support of the “Agence pour l’enseignement français à l’étranger” (Agency for French Education Abroad). The school benefits from the support of the AEFE, especially in terms of assistance, ongoing staff training, scholarships for French students, and excellence scholarships for students pursuing their studies in France.
